- Expanding and solving equations
- Ratio and best buys
- Angles in polygons
- Sequences

The questions are grouped into sections that move from fluency to reasoning and problem solving. Each question has its own answer box and space for working, and the answer key explains the method rather than giving the answer alone.
Worked example
Example: solve 5x + 1 = 2x + 16. Subtract 2x: 3x + 1 = 16. Subtract 1: 3x = 15, so x = 5.
The example on the worksheet is separate from the 24 questions, so it never gives an answer away.
Sample questions
- Work out 3.6 × 4.
- Work out 2/3 of 45.
- Write 7/20 as a percentage.
- Write these numbers in order, smallest first: 0.5, −2, 1/4, −0.7
Show answers to the sample questions
- 14.4. 36 × 4 = 144. There is one decimal place in the question, so 14.4.
- 30. Find one third: 45 ÷ 3 = 15. Two thirds is 2 × 15 = 30.
- 35%. Multiply the top and bottom by 5 to make 35/100, which is 35%.
- −2, −0.7, 1/4, 0.5. Negative numbers are smallest: −2 is less than −0.7. Then 1/4 = 0.25, which is less than 0.5.
How to use it
- Print pages 1–3 for the learner and keep pages 4–6 (the answer key) for marking.
