The 12 times table
The 12 times table is 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 108, 120, 132, 144. It may also be called the twelve times table or 12x table. Use the facts and table-specific method below when recall gets stuck. The aim is automatic recall, without counting through the sequence.
For parents and carers, short and calm practice works best. Begin with meaning, using equal groups or an array, and then build the speed needed for confident recall.

A useful method for the 12 times table
Split twelve groups into ten groups and two groups. For 12 x 7, calculate 10 x 7 + 2 x 7, which is 70 + 14 = 84.
Use this method as a support when recall pauses. It helps the child rebuild the answer accurately, but the long-term goal is still direct recall. Revisit the fact later in a different order so it is learned independently of the list around it.
Facts to focus on
Spend extra time on 7 x 12 = 84 and 8 x 12 = 96. Connecting the 12s to the 3, 4 and 6 times tables reduces the amount of new learning.
Once the 2s, 5s and 10s are secure and commutativity is understood, the number of genuinely unknown facts is much smaller than a 12 by 12 grid first suggests. Every fact learned also secures its reversed partner.
How it is taught in school
Children may meet this table through equal groups, arrays, repeated addition, number lines, bar models and known-fact strategies. Ask the child to explain the method used in class and follow the same language at home where possible.
Other methods can reach the same correct answer. The priority is not to replace the teacher's approach with a competing shortcut, but to connect understanding to accurate recall. Mix the questions instead of always beginning at 1 x 12, and stop before practice becomes tiring.
