A useful method for the 15 times table
Split 15 into 10 and 5. The 5 times fact is half the 10 times fact, so 15 × 8 = 80 + 40 = 120.
Use the method as a safety net while recall develops. Once a fact is understood, return to it later in a different order so it is remembered on its own.
Facts to focus on
15 × 7 = 105, 15 × 9 = 135 and 15 × 15 = 225 are the trickiest. 15 minutes is a quarter of an hour, so 15 × 4 = 60.
Pattern to notice
The answers end in 5 and 0 alternately, and every answer is a multiple of both 3 and 5.
A worked example
15 × 7 = 10 × 7 + 5 × 7 = 70 + 35 = 105.
